News Round-up @ October 2013

Cluster Level Principals’ meeting:

Cluster level Principals’ meeting of Kameng cluster was held on 8th October 2013 at VKV- Nivedita Vihar. All the principals of Kameng Cluster were present for the meeting. Overall progress of the schools,action taken report of the previous meeting,academic monitoring, Mid-Day Meal Scheme, conducting of Vivek Utkarsh (All Arunachal Quiz), Parents-Teachers Meeting – new approach and planning for the rest of the session were the topic of discussion.

Vijay Hi Vijay:

3 day Leadership cum Motivation camp was organized by SVSSS Pranta Samiti for the college students in VKV- Nirjuli from 14th to 16th October 2013. 350 Participants from different colleges of the state participated in the camp. 10 selected teachers from few VKVs along with all teachers of VKV Nirjuli did a commendable work by becoming the part of the organizing team to organize the Mahashibhir successfully.

Teachers’ workshop:

1 day teachers’ workshop was conducted on 20th October at VKV- Itanagar in which 113 teachers of Papum Pare cluster attended. Dr. T.P.Sasikumar was the main resurource person for the camp. The camp was meant to refresh the teachingskill and also to motivate them to excel in their field. 

Prachodaya Shibir:

The three day Prachodaya shibir for the high achievers of the Class IX was conducted from 21 October to 23rd October, 2013 at VKV Itanagar.  Dr T.P Sashikumar, who held top notch, positions in many Departments like Deputy Director, Directorate General of Security, Cabinet Secretariat, New Delhi; Director, UGC Staff College, Calicut, was the main Resource person of the shibir. 74 students from 15 VKVs attended the shibir. There were many intellectuals and eminent persons present in the camp to address the cream of VKVs on various topics given to them. Some of them were:-

In addition to the above resource persons, Sri.Unnikrishnan, P.M, Shri Krishna Kumar & Smt. Reena Shivadasan, Senior teacher VKV- Itanagar and self guided the participants. 

National School Intensive:

 25 selected students from VKVs Itanagar, Nirjuli, Vivek Vihar, Jirdin and Tafrogam attended the   National School Intensive from 17 October to 23 October at Allons Public School, Bemetara, Chhattisgarh. National School Intensive was a mega training organized by Spic Macay (The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) where 500 students from different parts of our country participated to get training on different modules like vocal, classical dance, instruments, acting, painting etc. The mega program was graced by many masters of international repute likePtHariprasadChaurasia (flute), PtViswaohan Bhatt (Veena), Sh Raja Miyan( Hindustani Vocal),Sh Ali Ahmad Hussain Khan(Shehnai) etc .  There were performances, presentations, talks etc by these maestros. There was also a puppet theatre show by Shri Suresh Dutta. In addition, there were screenings of classical cinemas by Satyajit Ray, Charlie Chaplin, Akira Kurosawa and Shyam Benegal etc, daily Hatha Yog and Naad Yog sessions and a heritage walk. All the students could enrich themselves about the diverse aspects of the Indian art and Culture through the close interaction with the great masters.

Training for Physical Education Teacher:

15 day intensive training was imparted to the18 Physical Education Teachers of VKVs with the co-operation of the Directorate of Sports, Government of Arunachal Pradesh at Sangay Laden Sports Academy Itanagar from 16 to 30 October. The inauguration of the training was done by Shri D.K.Dingla, Director – Sports, Government of Aruanchal Pradesh. I was present in inaugural function along Dr. Minakshi Bharve on 16.10.2013. The teachers were trained to give coaching in Track and Field, Football, Volley ball, Kho-kho, Kabaddi, Archery, Badminton and drill. The teachers were quite enthusiastic and expressed that training has refreshed their skill and have better equipped to impart physical education to the students. 

Inauguration of Computer Laboratory at VKV Itanagar:

Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Sri Bosiram Siram inaugurated the state -of -the art computer lab at VKV Itanagar on 24th October amid the presence of Major Gen (retd) R S Naidu and the entire students, staff and parents.The computer Lab has 45 computers of latest version in which LCD projector, Edu Sat, Networking etc can be used not only for computer education but for Language Lab, online Library and also for integrated subject teaching.

One Day Workshop for Science Students

132 Students of class XI and XII, pursuing science stream at VKV Itanagar and VKV Nirjuli attended a one day workshop on 24 October conducted by Dr T.P.Sashikumar, former scientist; ISRO. The motivational workshop aimed to make the students aspire for higher objectives in life, orient the students about the needed preparations to achieve success. The whole day camp was highly beneficial for the students.

Sadgamaya– Reachingout to the students of Other Schools:

The VKV teachers have used the mid-term vacation for conducting Sadgamaya camp, visiting homes, being the part of the organizing team of Vijay hi Vijay etc.. Sadgamaya is organized for the students studying in other schools. The main focus of the camp is to provide the experience of systematic daily routine,take Swami Vivekananda’s life and message in their life, to give motivation to excel in studies and to lead a value based life.

Visit of Dr.T.P.Sasikumar:

The noted educationist and the former space scientistDeputy Director, Directorate General of Security, Cabinet Secretariat, New Delhi, Director, UGC Staff College, and Calicut Shri T.P.Sasikumar visited VKVs in Arunachal Pradesh from 19th October to 26th October 2013. He was the main resource person for Prachodaya, Teachers’ workshop, one day workshop for science students. He addressed the students of VKV- Itanagar, Nirjuli and Banderdewa. He also addressed the parents of VKV- Itanagar and members of Ayyappa Sewa Sangh where 250 and 200 persons participated respectively.

Participation in North East Zonal Science Drama Competition:

A team comprising of   8 students of VKV- Itanagar represented Arunachal Pradesh in North East Zonal Science Drama Competition held at Guwahati on 26th October 2013. The enthusiastic participants after the competition remarked that the maiden performance was satisfactory as it was appreciated by all.But they needed more preparation to bag the prizes. Shri.K.K.Subrmanian, VKV- Itanagar was the escort teacher. Dr. T.P.Sasikumar and Shri.Unnikrishnan.P.M, the Education officer witnessed the event at Guwhati.

Kishori Vikash Shibir:

VKV- Kharsang conducted Kishori Vikash Shibir on 10th October 2013 at the campus in which 125 Girls participated. The camp was organized as a part of SVSSS programme.

Children’s Day Celebrated in VKV Itanagar

Birthday of a India’s 1st Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was celebrated in VKV Itanagar with Science Exhibition and cultural programme.

VKV, Itanagar (Chimpu) celebrated Children’s Day in a befitting manner with the colourful cultural programme of students and Science Exhibition. Smt. Anuradha Panigrahy Head of the Dept. of Physics, DN College Inaugurated the Science Exhibition. Dr. AK Pandey, Associated Professor, commerce Dept. DN College, Sri Sharat Godse Engineer (Metallurgy) , Shri Dattatreya Dewal Engineer (Automobile Industry) from Vigyan Vahini Maharashtra were also present in the occasion which gave more scientific awareness and motivation to the students. Students from Class III to XII participated in the exhibition. Principal, Shri SC Dixit welcomed the Guests and parents in the occasion. Since exhibition co-ordinator  Sri KK Subramanian, Sr. Teacher gave vote of thanks
